This was a wonderful way to spend the evening (although still a bit tired from having just arrived back in London that morning)
Our lovely host for the evening had been doing his research on us and we were welcome to deliciously sweet tasty red beverage, a great sample of rather death and gloomy books and documentations and background music of Inkubus Sukkubus!! How perfect is that!!
Spent the first hour, reading some very funny reports of living skeleton, murder and death, beautiful edition of castle of Otranto, beautiful illustrated manuscripts and more and more perfectly picked selection of books for our pleasure.
We then went to discover the rest of the library, a little maze due to some odd architect resulting in 9 levels on 4 floors!
Strangely enough I have been to many plays in the theatre underneath and never realise their was such a wonderful library there.
Many backrooms piled with books and odd documents mainly about printing or due to their typography and typeface.
This library is open free of charge to the public.
After a great maze of dark backrooms we suddenly entered the very new and white reading room, only to be then taken to a room absolutely packed with bits of printing machinery. Not quite sure how to describe it, but absolutely packed of stuff, all those little bits used to make all those pretty sentences in our favourite reading objects.
We were there and kept of going whoa! , look at that, what’s that??
Another room downstairs had even bigger printing machines, especially a wonderful printing press covered in snakes and eagles.
Another little gem of London discover and many thanks to
robot_melfor organising it.
